Crazy Kyrgyzstan Adventure Learn from the Eagle Hunting Master

[30/10/12]

Oh how we yearn for adventure. The adrenaline of flying over a splurting volcano in a Soviet-era single prop aircraft, taking a blind dip in Pattong, or eating fermented Yak’s milk in Kyrgyzstan. The latter – now very much a possibility. Organised by Wild Frontiers, the ‘Kyrgyzstan: Celestial Mountain Action Adventure’ is a 16-day journey to tell the grandkids about. If the world still exists by then.

Highlights include horse riding through river valleys, helicoptering over 23,000 foot mountains, white water rafting and learning from the country’s most renowned eagle hunter. To clarify, he hunts with the creature rather tries to catch it. He’s not that tall. The trip is real balls in your mouth exploring - the type of high-stakes experience that binds you for life with your companions. Remember that time you were one side of an Eiffel tower with a lucky lady in the middle? Course you do - and you wouldn't forget your running mate would you?

Priced at £2,795 (HK$34,500), the trip starts in the capital, Bishkek, but then meanders through the wilderness where you’ll bed down with local nomads. A lovely little commission for them too. In fact, come to think of it, at those prices they probably have real houses by now and have to fake the nomad part. The group will comprise 5-12 people and sets off on July 27, 2013 so you’ve got a little time to mull it over and sort out your last will and testimony.

Adventure waits for no man.
