SeatGuru knows all about airplane seating

Don’t you just hate the whole rigmarole of getting through the airport? The chaos begins even before you check in, having to jostle with others in the queue, especially parents who brandish their kids as a license to nab front row seats with the extra legroom. So take our advice: travel smart with this guru, who will get you the perfect seat.

TripAdvisor’s SeatGuru is a web service for the discerning flight-goer. It provides a seat map with descriptions of 550 planes and over 80 airlines. Not only does it include reviews of how a seat fares between good and poor, but it also has such noteworthy details as Internet availability and how far your seat will recline. The aim is to highlight the merits and drawbacks of different planes, thus allowing you to find the perfect seat for you. SeatGuru has also recently added the ability to book your flight on the website, so now you can pick and pay for your seat at the same time.

Unfortunately, SeatGuru doesn’t allow you to pick your neighbouring passengers.
