Former race car driver Peter Schindler has launched ‘On The Road in China’, offering extensive driving itineraries through some of China's most beautiful scenery.

Vital features include seatbelts and air bags that would’ve made Anna Nicole Smith blush, which is why you’ll be driving around in your choice of sedan, SUV or Toyota Prado 4x4. You'll spend days cruising the back roads of Yunnan's tea terraces, stopping in at ancient temples and rustic local markets, or discovering James Hilton's Lost Horizon in Shangri-La and photographing the famed Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Evenings will be spent in the region's top hotels with all meals, domestic flights, car hire and fees included in the tariff. It’s obviously a slight issue taking in stunning surroundings while also keeping your passengers alive – but that’s part of the thrill. Trips range from five days to fourteen and prices from . You can also design a bespoke tour that might even be easy enough to let your lady take the wheel.

Watch out for those learners.
