The Best of Macau

Macau, Hong Kong's glitzy, raunchy, far-more-compliant sister city, has so much to offer visitors in the know. Macaustag specializes in helping groups of licentious lads realize their full Macau potential; no more waiting in nightclub lines or yoga-rising yourself into a tiny cab when you can roll in limo-esque style and get the VIP treatment wherever you go. Here, the boys at Macaustag give NecesCity readers the low down on Macau's hidden hotspots.
Plan to Party
All great acts need a plan behind them, some kind of forethought, some kind of objective. When it comes to Macau, the most comprehensive list of up-coming parties and events, as well as the inside word on the city's top bars and clubs, can be found at Macau 24, the city's online entertainment guide, so be sure to check out what's on before you head over to Asia's Sin City.

VIP of the Sea
Yes you can always take a helicopter to Macau (provided it gets further than two kilometers into the harbor before beach balling into the surf) or you can stretch out beer o'clock a little longer with a private suite on the Cotai Jet. Get priority boarding and embarkation so you don't have to do the 'mainlander sprint' to immigration and complimentary drinks and snacks on route mean your jet boat passage turns into Happy Hour. From HK$1,888 for 8 pax.

Inside Man
Now you're in the home of hedonistic pleasures and, like Dante entering the inferno, you're going to need a guide. Macaustag don't just organize trips where you lick whipped cream off strippers – they're your inside man, your heavy hitter, the Macanese equivalent of The Fonz. You want a mate's weekend with golf by day and slots by night? They're in. You want to play pool volleyball with Russian models? They're in. You want to cruise the city by stretch Chrysler, complete with flat panel TV, massage chair and Xbox? They - and all the honeys in the city - are in.

Formula For Success
Yes you want ladies pouring themselves over you like warm milk, and cocktails richer than Colombian cartels, but Macau also offers non-nocturnal activities, including the Macau Motorsports Club, a 50,000sqm track on the island of Coloane. This is a world-class karting track designed to take you to the limits. What better way for the boys to bond? From MOP180. Estrada Seac Pai Van Kartodromo de Coloane, Tel: +853 2888 2126,

If the karting didn't turn your stomach and flash your young life before your eyes, the bungee jump from the top of Macau Tower just might. This is the world's tallest bungee, at 233m – that's higher than Jim Morrison. From MOP1,888. Largo da Torre de Macau , Tel: +853 2893 3339,

Show Down
You might want to take in a show and Macau's the place. Zaia, a Cirque de Soleil production, has been running in a custom-built theatre at the Venetian for over two years now, to raving reviews, and it’s just the ticket for getting your imagination into gear. From MOP388.

Poker Pro
One of the most anticipated poker rooms in Macau, Poker King Club is the place where all Texas Hold’em poker players, beginners to experts, can satisfy their poker needs. They even have training tables to teach you the tricks of the game and make you work on your poker face before you tackle the dealers downstairs. 3rd Floor, StarWorld Casino, Avenida da Amizade, Tel: +853 2838 3838,

You're going to need to build your strength for the night ahead and when in Macau, do as the Portuguese do, and dine at Antonio’s. This is the culinary realm of Chef Antonio, where he turns out signature dishes like homemade spicy sausages, and goat’s cheese gratin with acacia honey and olive oil. Rua dos Negociantes No. 3, Old Taipa Village, Taipa, Tel: +853 2899 9998,

If you'd like something perhaps a little less...oily, the Italian cuisine of La Gondola is a popular choice. Located over looking Cheoc Wan beach, get in early to enjoy a warm night on their rooftop dining terrace. Estrada de Cheoc Van, Coloane, Tel: +853 2888 0156.

No Lion Sleeps Tonight
Start the night off slow, with a few well-made drinks and some great live music (and more hookers than you can shake a loaf of bread at). The Lion’s Bar has been the city's top watering hole since the MGM opened a few years back and offers an elegant way to prepare to play. Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen, Tel: +853 8802 8888,

Alternatively head over to the Flame Bar at the Hard Rock Cafe, where the cocktails are almost as colourful as the clientele. Choose one of their potent Chinese rice wine mixes and gauge the temperature of the night to come. They currently have ALL half price drinks 24 hours a day. Hard Rock Hotel, City of Dreams, Estrada do Istmo, Cotai, Tel: +853 8868 3338,

Dance Floor Dynamo
So its time to hit the dance floor and enjoy your new-found VIP status. Head to Club Cubic, Macau's sexiest nightclub and one which regularly hosts visiting international DJs and special celeb-encrusted events for your eye candy pleasure. On August 28 check out the beats of DJ Andre Pulse, resident DJ at Brazil's Green Valley Club. 2F, AIA Tower, 251A-301 Avenida Commercial de Macau, Tel: +853 2828 6696,

Pleasure Palaces
As the night gets into full swing, you might want to go somewhere where the party is headed in the same direction as your imagination. Macau's Playmates Go Go Bar is one of Macau's coolest bars, with a world-class sound system, spinning DJs, flaming cocktails, and striptease and lap dances performed by a Naughty United Nations of buxom beauties. What's more, their lap dances involve a little more 'patron participation', all for just MOP150.

If stripping starlets is what you're after, then head down to the new Las Vegas-styled Prestige Gentleman's Club at the Lisboa. Its tenacious team of strip teasers come from the globe's four corners and Macaustag members get a free dance with the purchase of champagne, meaning even more bang for your...bubble.

Rocker Room
Eventually, and no one's quite sure when, you're going to need a hotel room – either to crash land in, or to entertain in. If it's going to be the latter, there's only one way to go – the Rock Star Suite at the Hard Rock Hotel. Designed to offer the ultimate VIP experience, you'll 'sleep' in a Sleep Like A Rock bed with Egyptian linen and a goose-down duvet, surrounded by rock memorabilia. Continue partying with the Mix-Me bartending station and entertainment system, complete with 65-inch LCD, and link up your camcorder, cause a party like this needs to be filmed. From MOP48,888. Hard Rock Hotel, City of Dreams, Estrada do Istmo, Cotai, Tel: +853 8868 3338,

Pleasure Prisoner
If you're thinking of staying somewhere a little more historic, you can't go past Pousada de Sao Tiago, a Portuguese-styled boutique hotel carved out from one of the city's last remaining colonial-era forts. Its luxurious rooms are the perfect place to, in the words of Ron Burgundy, storm castles with your stead....”m'lady”. From HK3,100. Avenida da República, Fortaleza de São Tiago da Barra, Tel: +853 2837 8111,

If you're in the mood for a lazy day at the beach, post-revelry, then the Westin Resort Macau, with its beach access, pools galore and luxurious rooms, might be more the ticket. From MOP1,398 per night. 1918 Estrada de Hac Sa, Coloane, Tel: +853 2887 1111,

Set sail, Or…
Finally, if you need some R&R after a hard night on the gaming floor (or someone else's) then get the lads at Macaustag to organize you a Macau junk trip and tour the islands over a few cold ones. The beaches are cleaner than Hong Kong, the Macaustag crew can sort the provisions, and there is nothing like sea air to revive the senses and prep you for your return to Hong Kong.

If you haven’t had enough of debauchery yet, get them to organize you a private pool party at the Westin and continue, start this list all over again.
