Weigh-to-Go Luggage Tag Know Before You Stow

[05/07/10]

Let’s be honest for a minute, men of Hong Kong. As much as we like to perpetuate the idea love to shop (almost as much as they like to do the dance of self-rationalisation), we can also be guilty.

Whether it’s a buck’s weekend in Bangkok, a safari in Botswana or a slice of souk-searching in Bahrain, we’ve picked up a few choice items, only to have relationship-ending rows with surly airline staff when our bags are over-weight. If we had known beforehand, we could have worn that authentic Aztec “Feather God” coat on the flight, instead of packing it away, or express mailed that case of 2006 Chenin Blancs from the post-World Cup tasting tour, rather than lugging to the airport.

A simplistic but revolutionary little device, the Weigh-to-Go luggage tag is both a means of identification and a hand-carried scale.

Made from a high gloss plastic shell and featuring a durable steel carabineer with built-in combo lock (which is designed to prevent the theft of the item, not your luggage), its battery-powered scale is linked to two Velcro bands which take the weight of the luggage when it’s hoisted – all for less than your airport tax.

A small price to pay for defeating the airline devils.
