With both print and digital faces, it’s got politics and social commentary, design, culture and debate, all served up with a literary style that’s as crisp as the pages of a brand new note book.
Now, thanks to a special relationship between Lane Crawford and Monocle, you’ll be able to buy said notebook – and a host of other Monocle branded items – at the new Monocle Shop Pacific Place, opening tonight. Although it only has a five-week life cycle – the same as tadpoles and junk trip love affairs - it’s a chance for Monocle readers to sample the magazine’s collaboration with the likes of Comme des Garçons, Porter and BlackBerry, to illuminate their outlook with clamp lamp by Andreas Martin-Lof, or tackle the Admiralty traffic on a Skeppshult V-bike, none of which come cheap. However, with Monocle shops in London and LA, with Tokyo and New York planned for later in the year, there is some discussion as why such a highly regarded magazine even needs a retail store.
