Hong Kong Yachting

[03/03/10]

Nautical Theme
Keep a Keen Eye on Your Keel

What with all the action of the America’s Cup on at the moment, with its million-dollar yachts and sci-fi technology, you can forgive a few converts for wanting to head out on the water and become seamen (yes, yes, from whence they came). And what a place to learn; Hong Kong boasts one of the world’s most famous harbours, a waterway rich with history and some brilliant sailing grounds.

Hong Kong Yachting offers a range of sailing courses to take you from weak-kneed land lubber to saltier than a tequila salesman eating particularly salty corn chips. Day sailing classes on a Volvo 60 racing yacht run for three hours a piece, with a morning and afternoon class followed by an evening cruise, with wine tasting, to see the light show (of course the day shows include beer, wine and snacks also – it wouldn’t be sailing otherwise!) There are also corporate sailing days when you can tackle the elements with your colleagues and Hong Kong Yachting also organise private charters.

You’ll be dodgier than Dennis Conner in no time.

Hong Kong Yachting
Day trips from $680 per person, $480 for evening cruise.
