In the full-contact combat sport, boxing is just one of many fight styles to lend their striking and grappling techniques to a nuanced battle of speed, reflexes, and endurance. Though they may favour a particular style, to truly excel, competitors need to build a comprehensive repertoire of techniques drawn from all disciplines; done right, the result is an artful showcase of technical mastery, strength, and determination.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is where all the best MMA competitors end up, and on August 23, you’ll get a chance to see them do battle in the flesh at the UFC Fight Night Macao. The headline match will see England’s Michael “The Count” Bisping take on Vietnam’s former Strikeforce champion Cung Le, pit their contrasting styles against each other in a middleweight battle; while the second main event will see welterweights Dong Hyun Kim and Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley go head to head. In total, eleven fights will be held, with the evening closing at fever pitch as featherweights Yang Jianping and Ning Guangyou compete to be named The Ultimate Fighter China and win a UFC contract. Tickets to the bouts, to be held at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Arena, are priced between HK$280 and HK$4,680, and ticket and ferry packages are also available.
Diversity is always a good thing.
