Silence of the Celebs Void the Internet of Celebs you Hate

[12/04/11]

There are particular celebrities we think the world would be better off without. Lady Gaga. Justin Bieber. That grey haired man who appears next to Tyra Banks on America's Next Top Model. Which we don't watch, obviously. We're just too busy thinking about carburetors and extra strong lager. And don't even mention Tom Cruise.

Aside from the fun we have sharing videos and stories about these weapons of mass destruction (witness, if you have the testes, Monsieur Cruise's nauseating performance on Oprah's sofa) we want to expunge a few of them from our lives.

Taking this universal desire to delete certain individuals and turning it into a cyber space masterpiece is a Chrome app called Silence of the Celebs. We sadly live in too primitive a time to enter a 3D world where we can go all 'Hostel' on the Biebs, tearing out those irritating puppy dog eyes and brandishing them to a legion of his sobbing, teenage fans, but we can remove them from our personal online cocoon.

Whilst you can't delete Tom Cruise from the net per se, the free app acts as a personal filter, removing any mention of him from your favourite sites and re-configuring the pages so you never unwittingly stumble upon the twirp.

Which will have to do for now…
