Watery Wonder
Putting the Self Back into S.C.U.B.A. Diving

Naval officer, adventurer, scientist and photographer Jacques-Yves “le Commandant” Cousteau is to the ocean’s mysteries as jello is to wrestling. Devoting his entire life to the living world beneath the waves, Cousteau helped design the aqua-lung and helped push many of the first marine conservation efforts. “From birth, man carries the weight of gravity on his shoulders,” he once said. “He is bolted to earth. But man has only to sink beneath the surface and he is free.”

And an increasing number of men (and women) are doing just that, dressing up in more tight rubber suits than a Lady Gaga concert, and diving into Asia’s bath tub-warm waters to explore the world below. Diving Hong Kong is one of the city’s most experienced and accredited dive outfits, offering the full spectrum of Padi-certified dive courses, from beginner to disarming stolen nukes at crush depth a-la-The Abyss. What’s more, they organise dive trips to some of the best scuba locales in Asia (strangely Hong Kong isn’t one of them) meaning you’ll get professional tuition before getting the most out of your next trip to Bohol or The Similans.

Take a breath and find a bit of freedom.
