Fox & The Barber Bringing Sexy Back

You would have to live on the moon not to notice the returning trend in male barbershops around the world.

Since the 18th century gents have gone to barber shops for salutation, consultation, grooming and even the odd post front-back-and-sides dram. But over the second half of the 20th century the tradition of the local barber shop fell on hard times. It was an era of hippie hair, jheri curls and…dare we say it, mullets, and only squares and marines wanted to look razor sharp. Today, if you head to savvy locales like Shoreditch and West Chelsea you’ll find enclaves of male-orientated grooming, places we can call our own, where our manscaping needs are met by highly trained artisans amidst sophisticated interiors that harp to those refined roots.

Hong Kong has been a little slow on the uptake but finally we have a barbershop worth spending some serious time in. Introducing (guess who’s the fox), an urbane he-space that specialises in leaving you silky smooth, whether you’re looking for the modern retro gangster look or the flare of the rockabilly 50s. With a cutting edge menu that includes classic straight-razor shaves, long, lingering Club Shaves, haircuts, beard trims and even that clipper cut with skin fade you’ve always fancied but never dared, Fox & The Barber features the aesthetic of traditional English barbershops but with some distinctly modern touches. Using luxurious products from the likes of Baxter of California, Mr Natty and Truefitt & Hill, experienced barbers Sarah and Alf (aka the beard guru) will massage and shampoo you into submission using the rarely experienced forward-facing Shanghai-style wash (because we know you love to try new positions), before cutting, trimming and priming you into looking your best. And all this happens in an ambiance that’s as much gentleman’s club as it is hairdresser, complete with your favourite tipple in hand and smooth tunes on the stereo.

It’s our time now (again).
