Malig’s got the swing

If you’re looking for live music entertainment on your rowdy night out in Lan Kwai or Wan Chai, there are no doubt plenty of ‘80s and ‘90s cover bands to choose from. But if you’re looking for a quieter, classier evening of live music in the company of friends at your own party, then we’ve got the man for you.

John Malig is one of the few Standards and Swing performers in the city, who combines Dean Martin’s huskiness with Frank Sinatra’s diction and Nat King Cole’s emotion to provide his own modern twist on the classics. This self-taught artist debuted in 1995 at a Guess and Girard-Perregaux annual dinner, singing classic tunes from the 1920s to the 1960s. In 2004, he teamed up with a drummer, pianist, bassist and trumpeter to form “John Malig and his Pack”. Together, they’ve been much sought after by numerous up-market venues, from restaurants and shopping malls to bars and clubs (recently, you might’ve seen them perform at Kee Club’s “Swingin Lounge” nights). With a wide repertoire that includes tunes from the “Rat Pack” era, they also accept bookings for private events, such as birthday parties, weddings and anniversaries.
