City dwelling amidst the tall skyscrapers of Hong Kong can be very claustrophobic. Wish you could escape all this urban chaos, yet don’t have your own private jet to take you up and above the city for a breath of fresh air?

Consider learning paragliding from instructor, Steve Yancey. With more than 10 years of experience, he can guide you through the basics, and have you cruising at altitude in no time. Completing an introductory course (HK$7,200/person; 6-8 lessons) in Sai Kung Country Park will earn you a beginner’s license, which allows you to fly solo (albeit with supervision and only on entry level sites). Those of you who are more experienced can consider earning a novice license (HK$1,100/person/day; 12 flights in 3-4 days) to fly unsupervised at any location (Ma On Shan and Shek O being the more popular spots). Both licenses are issued by the internationally recognized U.S. Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association. Both packages include tuition, transport, study materials and use of all equipment, with discounts available to groups. For the best views, opt for tuition on a clear day this autumn or early spring.

This is what we call green-friendly gliding with views to boot.
