Start shaking with the guidance of HK Bartender, which offers individual and group classes in bartending. Lessons are conducted in English and held, not in a sterile classroom like some other schools, but at a bar or club in Lan Kwai Fong and Wan Chai. In the Basic course, learn the skill of free pouring and the methodology behind making a wide variety of popular cocktails, such as Screwdriver and Sex on the Beach, as well as other alcoholic beverages. Once you’ve got the hang of it, consider proceeding to the more advanced courses in the art of mixology and flairtending. Fees depend on the person’s requirements, but a two-hour, one-day basic course will take you back HK$400.
