Wine, wine, wine. No, we’re not doing an impersonation of your last girlfriend, but it seems that vino is all anyone’s talking about at the moment. With the wine tax dropped like a greased up midget, the brown bubbly has been left in the shadows. Yes we know about the carbs, and about moderation, but it’s nice to finally have a place of pilgrimage for the faithful (and foamy-mouthed) beer barons among us.

The city’s St Peters Basilica of beer, Trafalgar, celebrates its first year of pouring boutique ales, lagers and stouts – including the likes of Spitfire Smooth, Green Goblin Cider, Trashy Blonde and Thomas Hardy Vintage - tonight, and you're all invited to the party. With 11 brews on tap, it’s taken a true beer bar to ween us off our San Miguel addiction, and come major sporting matches, two 120-inch projectors tap into the city grid to bring you the best afternoon pub experience you’ll find on Lockhart Road. During summer, the terrace will be the place to while away those lazy Sundays, and if your nutritionist has taken the day of, indulge in some classic British pub grub, including fish and chips and weekend roasts.

It’s a beerutiful thing.
