Hand Rolled Davidoffs, Macau Davidoff & Macallan Team Up in Galaxy Macau

[18/05/12]

From May 24 - 25, the Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge, Macau, has invited a Davidoff maestro to hand-roll cigars to accompany their whisky flights. Can you think of anything more gentlemanly, more First Class on ocean liners at the turn of the century, more ‘check me out, I’m a real boy’ than quaffing a whisky and a hand-rolled cigar? It’s our idea of heaven.

Julian Antonio Martinez has been rolling Davidoff cigars for nearly two decades and he doesn’t speak a word of English which makes his craft all the more mesmerising. Some of us have mastered the art of rolling a cigarette/twig/lunger - and even some of the more illicit smoking variants - but rolling a cigar is special. The Macallan Bar offers smokes all year round but this is the only time you’ll get one hand rolled by the guru himself, and they’re complementary when you buy a whisky flight. Just try not to cough on your first puff.

The Macallan Bar stocks five flights each consisting of five different whiskies, ranging in price from HK$288 – 588. They include a set of Macallan’s finest, Japan’s greatest, an around the world selection, some of Scotland’s best and, our favourite; ‘The Smoky One’ which “explores the deep, rich, peaty flavors of whiskies from the islands of Islay and Skye on Scotland’s west coast”. You'll be able to smoke a salmon on your breath alone.

The very best of man.
