5 Best NYE Parties in HK If you haven’t got organised already, we’ve got a line up of the five best New Year’s Eve parties in Hong Kong.

The curious thing about New Year’s is most of you will have already made plans. It’s one of those dates you have to try to have as much fun as possible. But the even more curious thing about New Year’s is everyone says they hate it. We don’t like how contrived and expensive it is. Humans are a curious bunch so here’s a helping hand.

Hed Kandi at the W

First up is the Hed Kandi bash at the W, for a few years now the biggest NYE party in Hong Kong. Although they try to make each new edition feel different, every Hed Kandi party has a sense of déjà vu. Not that it’s not fun – it’s a banger – it’s just if you’ve been before, you know what to expect.

Advanced tickets for HK$1,480 with open bar, 10pm – 3am

Time’s Square Street Party

For a slightly saner, less scantily clad dancers to distract you from your girlfriend approach, you can join the fancy dress street party in Time’s Square. Take along a picnic, some hooch and some of your best pals and you can’t fail to have a good time.

As free as New Year’s can be, all night

Bargain NYE at Halo, LKF

Halo’s a cool lounge and for NYE they’re offering the best deal in the city.  For HK$350 you get free-flow of drinks and canapés from 7pm – 2am. It’s unbeatable value and the brandy/cigar room furniture makes it a great place to be – miles away from the jello shoots and vomit only around the corner.

HK$350 with free flow & canapés, from 7pm – 2am

Top Deck Party on Jumbo

Although it’s a bit of a mission to get there, Top Deck on Jumbo is a great place to see in the new year. This party has lots of features including stilt-walkers, a photo-box, mimes, dragons and body painting while the tunes will come courtesy of DJ Robutnik.

HK$890 for gents, HK$790 for ladies with open bar, 10pm – 2am

Future Dance Hall at XXX

New Year’s doesn't have to be canapés and champagne. You can listen to future dance hall at XXX in Sheung Wan where it's HK$150 to get in and BYOB. They’re offering a NO LKF/NYE/BS night – a great motto they’ve come up with themselves – so just head along and wait for the cops to arrive.

HK$150 entry & BYOB, from 10pm till late
