Oh-La-La New To The Neighborhood

[06/09/10]

We've spoken about this phenomenon before; the endearing 'local', a place that's comfortable and suited to your needs. A place where you'll meet and make friends, where they know your taste in drinks and women.

It's a one stop shop in many ways, a chance to entertain and socialise without having to wander far from home; a spot for good, homely sustenance without the inherit 'wank factor'. Soho has a new local contender in Oolaa, which opens its doors this week.

With an all day menu (be warned, Soho prices), a bar with an arm's length wine list, and al fresco spaces to boot, this spacious eatery seemingly has it all. At a whopping 6,000sqft, and taking up a chunk of the ground floor of the CentreStage residential complex, Oolaa will play cafe by day, restaurant by night.

It's the perfect close-proximity date spot and a choice locale for that last roadie. The menu ranges from lattes and pastries during the day, to wood fired pizzas and unpretentious “western” food with Med leanings by night. And as the night gets on, Oolaa turns sexy cocktail lounge, with sinful grooves spun by resident DJs.

Just cause its local, doesn't mean it can't be lavish.
