Gusto Making Friends & Filling Bellies

[20/07/10]

You know, the creators of the classic television series Cheers were on to something. Apart from having a cast of clichés and only one real star (we love you Woody), they were right when they said we all love a place where everyone knows our name.

Its nice to have a regular haunt, a local, your spot, where people know how you like things and where you’ll meet people just like you; a neighbourhood eatery where you can grab a bite or have a glass of wine without participating in the 7-11 Happy Hour.

From the group which brought you Halo (the club, not the game) and Volar, Gusto is a friendly local café-cum-wine bar located in the heart of Happy Valley.

With a stellar brunch menu, plenty of salads and sandwiches which, although not forgiving on the wallet, definitely are on the waistline, a range of summer-friendly Italian sodas, and a wine list that kicks in as the sun sets, it’s one of those rare Hong Kong institutions where you’ll make friends, adopt a favourite possie and be on a first name basis with the chef.

“Wouldn't you like to get away?”
