Hopleaf HK Beer Importer Unusual Brews & Beer of the Month Club

[26/04/12]

Hop Leaf imports unusual beers to Hong Kong such as Baird and Rogue, holy grails of the Japanese and American craft beer scenes respectively. It was set up by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to share their love of the good stuff, which we can support far more easily than Diageo. You imagine the suits at Carlsberg prefer a glass of red over a beer and submitted noise complaints about the South Bay Beach Club. RIP.

Hop Leaf is much more our style. You can place individual orders or join their beer of the month club which comes with a monthly write up. You simply pick how much beer you want you and how long you want to subscribe for. For instance 12 beers/month for 12 months costs HK$3,300, and it can also be used as a great gift. You’ll be hoping for the clink, clink of bottles coming up the stairs like the only prisoner in San Marino waiting for someone else to be jailed.

According to founder, Jeff Boda, they have a very simple approach. “We only sell beer that we love. We sell it as an awesome beverage that has blown up in other countries, but not in HK yet, and the key is education, education, education.” It all sounds like a glorious Beertopia (they're one of the key suppliers for the inaugural event this Saturday) where men can lie in grassy fields smashing tankards with each other while the women folk look after the children. In a separate field.

Beerilliant.
