Fear not. Mandy married a Trinidadian and lived in Trinidad for many years so you’re getting the real deal. She offers all sorts of menus and price plans varying from roughly $400-650 and she also does catering. Corkage is a further HK$80/bottle but you’re really after the food with highlights including leg of lamb marinated for five days, Soca Ribs, homemade condiments and Pumpkin Talkari with Callaloo. It sounds like cartoon food.
Mandy lives with her family in the house which also has a pool that guests are allowed to use. A swim’s a particular treat after a huge meal because it helps you support your weight, although it will probably be less of a swim and more of a float. These elements make it a genuine private kitchen – and if you don’t pay up in advance Mandy has no qualms cancelling your meal. She’s also just started doing takeaways (so long as you pay for the food’s cab fare) so put on your finest West Indian accent and pick up the phone.
