Monsieur Chatte As captured by Monsieur Chatté

[02/06/09]

Whether you’re a Frenchman living in Hong Kong or an aficionado of all things French, you probably shop at City’super in order to get your French ‘fix’. But if you’re in a rush to prepare a romantic Parisian dinner for two, where are you going to find instant (and we mean instant) chocolate fondue, the ultimate aphrodisiac?

You’ll find this and more at Monsieur Chatté, a gourmet shop that exclusively stocks lesser known, high-quality French specialties. A must-get is Monsieur Chatté’s homemade foie gras (HK$250/100g), which has been rated by “Eat & Travel” magazine as the best in town. It’s prepared by Marie Christine Chatté, according to a family recipe developed by Léon Chatté in 1956. Other unique items include a wide selection of jams that are traditionally made in open copper kettles (e.g. Mirabelle plum), cheeses (e.g. Gaslondes Camembert and Bleu D’Auvergine), pate and spreads. Of course, there are also selections of tea and wine from various regions in France (tasting sessions held on weekends at noon).

J'adore la France!
