Rooftop Cinema HK Rooftop Cinema Opening Tonight on Fringe Club

The cinema is awesome, no doubt about it. It’s withstood the test of time and the onslaught of home viewing technology, offering first date teenagers a perfect place to touch-but-don’t-look and poor eaters a venue to throw food towards their faces without fear of a wrist slap from authoritarian women. It’s brilliant.

What’s more brilliant than an ordinary cinema, however, is an outdoor cinema. We’ve all seen films (ironically often at the cinema) featuring characters who are themselves at a cinema, in cars, outdoors, and it looks absolutely dreamy. All teenagers know that unless you’re the embodiment of Viagra you can get much further round the metaphorical baseball park if you’re watching a film in your Subaru Justy rather than in your local theatre, but aside from the sexual opportunities it presents to excitable youngsters: outdoor cinemas are just plain cool. The coolest of all cinemas.

It’s time to get excited then because the Fringe Club, starting tonight, is launching its very own outdoor cinema on its rooftop. As tennis players like to say, c’mon.

Doors open at 7:30pm and films start at 8:30pm, with titles varying from Zoolander to Pulp Fiction. Have a look at their website to see what’s cooking then snap up a ticket. At the moment there are eight dates in the diary running up until May 4, so get booking.

Relive those teenage trysts.
