Local Boys Do Us Proud

Next time you meet a designer- and I mean the kind that makes things, not just the Mac Monkeys – buy the guy a drink (if it’s a lady, buy her two). If it wasn’t for designers, we wouldn’t be able to drive really fast, shave without necks that look like Manchester United scarves, or collect the sweet aromas from a fine cognac. Without these design-savvy savants, you wouldn’t have the computer you’re reading this on, or the ergonomic chair you’re sitting on, and don’t forget who invented the junk boat, the sombrero, the strip club pole and the martini glass! That’s right, designers!

One particular group of artisans worthy of accolade is the creative team at NeilPryde, the flagship brand of the Pryde Group, Hong Kong’s leading marine and adventure sports suppliers. They recently won three design honors at the prestigious European Red Dot Awards for their sail collection, X3 boom and Lucifer Drysuit, rightfully snatching victory from the grasps over 1,600 other companies.

Because it’s all about thinking outside the box. The devil’s own suit, the Lucifer looks nothing like normal kiteboarding gear, meaning not only are you hitting the seven seas like a bat out of hell, but you’re bringing style to the equation as well.

So let’s hear it for home grown talent
